About this course

Accepting a suggestion is not a skill. Judging one is. This course is about the second thing — the engineering practice that turns an AI assistant from a faster way to produce plausible code into a genuine increase in delivered, reviewed, secure work.

Who this is for

You need to be able to read code critically and write it in at least one of Java, Python or JavaScript. You do not need to be senior. What the course assumes is that you will be responsible for the code you ship, whoever or whatever typed it. It starts from how the assistant builds its context and ends at organisation-wide rollout, security auditing and measurement — the depth expected of someone with three or four years of professional experience leading adoption on a team.

What you will actually do

  • Drive a correct implementation using only comments, naming and structure, without editing the output
  • Build a prompt pattern library for five recurring task types in your own codebase's conventions
  • Ask workspace-aware questions of a repository with over a thousand files, and document the five it answers badly
  • Raise meaningful test coverage, rewriting at least three generated tests because they asserted nothing real
  • Migrate a module across fifteen files with a reviewable commit sequence and green tests at every step
  • Audit an AI-assisted codebase for injected vulnerabilities, secret exposure and licence risk
  • Configure organisation policy, content exclusion and audit logging for a two-hundred-developer rollout
  • Run a four-week measurement study and report honestly, including where there was no gain

The uncomfortable parts, included on purpose

One lesson is about where AI assistance makes you slower or worse: unfamiliar domains, security-critical paths, performance-critical code, and any situation where you are supposed to be learning. Another is about measuring your own accept-then-revert rate, which is usually higher than people expect. A third covers the metrics leadership likes that mean nothing — lines of code, acceptance rate, self-reported productivity.

If you want a course that tells you this tool will double your output, this is not it. If you want to adopt it on a real team without the defect rate quietly rising, it is.

How it runs

Fully online, in live IST cohorts, taught by engineers who use these tools on production codebases daily. Every session is recorded and published to the LMS the same day and stays available afterwards. We teach learners across Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Delhi NCR and the rest of India — there is no centre to travel to.

If your Git fundamentals need work first, start with Git and GitHub. For building AI systems rather than using them, see Agentic AI Software Engineering or the broader Generative AI and Agentic AI Engineer Program.

Module 1

You can explain what Copilot is doing when it suggests code, which is what lets you judge a suggestion instead of accepting it.

  1. From autocomplete to code generation1 hr
    • token prediction
    • code-trained models
    • suggestion ranking
    • inline vs chat
    • latency budget
  2. What goes into the context window1 hr
    • current file
    • open tabs
    • neighbouring files
    • symbol references
    • what is excluded
  3. Why suggestions are confidently wrong1 hr
    • plausible syntax
    • invented APIs
    • outdated patterns
    • silent logic errors
    • no execution feedback
  4. Copilot plans and what each includes1 hr
    • individual
    • business
    • enterprise
    • feature differences
    • data handling terms
  5. Trust calibration as a skill1 hr
    • verify before accept
    • high-risk categories
    • review discipline
    • over-reliance signals
    • measuring your own accuracy
  6. Where Copilot fits beside other AI tools1 hr
    • IDE assistants
    • chat assistants
    • autonomous agents
    • review bots
    • choosing per task

Hands-on project: Write a short internal briefing for your team on how Copilot builds its context, where its suggestions come from, and three categories of suggestion to never trust.

The Full-Stack Java developer program at Squarebrackets completely transformed my career. Learning Spring Boot and microservices architecture alongside React and Next.js gave me the exact modern stack companies are looking for. Building real-time projects using Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ for message queuing gave me the practical confidence I needed to ace my system design rounds.

Ankit transitioned from a legacy support engineer to a high-paying product development role after completing his 6-month intensive Java and JavaScript full-stack training at our Noida campus.

The Java Full-Stack and DSA course at Squarebrackets completely changed my career trajectory. The focus on raw problem-solving with DSA alongside hands-on Spring Boot and React projects gave me the practical skills I needed. I went from struggling with basic coding rounds to cracking my technical interview with absolute confidence.

Aniket joined Squarebrackets as a college senior looking to transition from theoretical academic projects to production-ready software development. After completing our rigorous training program, he secured a placement as an Associate Software Engineer.

No. Accepting suggestions takes an afternoon. The course is about the engineering around it: shaping context so suggestions are useful, recognising confidently wrong output, reviewing generated tests that assert nothing, auditing for injected vulnerabilities, and proving whether any of it made the team faster.
